Strawberry Biscuit Blog Hop

   Strawberry Biscuit Blog Hop

I was truly humbled when Elea Lutz  for Penny Rose Fabrics asked me to be part of this, to tell you the truth I didn't even know what a Blog Hop was and .....they want me?
Research was definitely needed, so now that I know how it all works I'm thrilled to be part of this, so many talented craftswomen.

Welcome to my blog, I'm sure most of you will be new here, so very lovely to meet you.
Well I fell in love with Elea's designs when I ordered some of the 'Milksugarflower' Mint Friends with the wee bunnies and kittens on it, I made 'Karla Kitten' then I made 'Kerah Rabbit'.
NOW we have Strawberry Biscuit and I love this too, for me the child like charm, the little prints and characters so sweet it's just perfect for wee toys....... so I have made for you SWEET ARIA dolly, she's a wee tot, soft and child friendly easily tucked under one arm by her little owner.

I always start the process by laying out my choices and envisioning the end results [ I love this part ] and with this gorgeous fabric I knew we had a winning combination.

The little faces need to be sweet for they are the key to a cute look, I took my time doing these although just using simple stitches, back stitch for the mouth and French knots for the nose and freckles.

The lovely pinafores are edged in cream lace and finished with tiny buttons, I have fussy cut the yokes to get the dear wee kitty, cake and puppy right where I wanted them.

The little blue one is just so cute, blue is my favourite colour and yes we do spell funny down here on the underside of the world.

The little boots are trimmed with satin ribbon the same lovely hot pink that features in the the pinafores.
Don't you just love the little rosettes, very french and I even dyed them with a Tea bag to get them just the perfect colour.

Their bright little faces and jaunty flower trimmed hats will please any girly girl, don't you think?

I always like to add a swing-tag to my toys so I have made a special one just for you 'Sweet Aria' and 'Strawberry Biscuit'

If you think you would like to make 'Sweet Aria' she is one of my original patterns available in my  shop .

My other project is this Bedroom Cushion

The gorgeous 'Gray Briar Rose'  fabric, well I wasn't sure what I was going to make with this. I felt it was too special to be cut up and there was just enough to do this cushion, a quilted top and yes purple piping, it looks so lovely.
I have a modern home, neutral and classic so I keep my style simple, but doesn't it look so lovely in my bedroom. My padded headboard is a soft mauve [ and yes it too was a 'Gee'sProject' ] and the Mohair blanket is a pale grey, the pop of colour is an unexpected but delightful surprise.

Thank you Elea and Penny Rose Fabric for including me in this inspirational Blog Hop, I have been in awe at the quality and variety of everyone's work and have so enjoyed visiting the other Blogs and YAY we still have day 9 and 10 to go, I'm so glad it's not over yet.

Kerah Rabbit revisited

Kerah Rabbit soft toy

I bought fabric on line!!!
It's not something that I do but I was so pleased with it, sweet little prints and patterns ideal when making wee things like rabbits and dolls.
I had not made any more of my  'Kerah Rabbits'  since making my initial samples for my pattern.
I was always so pleased with this pattern and re doing just confirmed that, maybe I truly am a little pattern designer.

This sweet fabric is 'Penny Rose' fabric, the little kitten and rabbit print is by designer  Elea lutz  my favourite.

I always enjoy this process, laying out my choices, anticipating the end result.

The little bodies, braces and buttons.

Look how sweet they are.

All finished, bright and beautiful my Easter bunnies.

Hand sewing the finishing touches.

All done   'Kerah Rabbit'  pattern available from my ETSY shop.

Soft Toy Pattern KARLA KITTEN

Karla Kitten soft toy

I realize I haven't posted any news or projects since July, oh how time fly's.
We have been travelling as we do most years this time to England and Europe, but no excuse as I have been home since October.

I always have new ideas fumbling and scrambling to get to the front of the queue and KARLA KITTEN has made it.

She really is a darling girl just like her namesake my Karla, a small dolly easily loved and carried around by a wee tot.

The minky fabric that I have used for her face, hands and feet is so soft and cuddly and the beautiful retro fabric that makes up the rest of her, simply wonderful.

Most of my fabric I got here at my local but the little prints I got  from America.

Like all my toys I fall for them as they come to life, I love the whole process, dreaming, making and photographing.
Meet KARLA KITTY .

SAXON the Polar-Fleece Bear

SAXON BEAR

This little dressed bear is my latest pattern, sweet and cuddly in his little cuffed Overalls.
I have so loved making him, choosing all the fabrics so that each one is sweeter than the next.

I love to mix cotton patterned fabric with fleece, so that he looks all dressed up.

I have named this Bear 'SAXON' after my only Grandson who is six and still loves a cuddle.

The cutting process, choosing fabric, what goes with what, I love this stage.

The little overalls all ready for the buttons and domes.

The faces all embroidered, each one slightly different which is the wonder of hand crafted.

All lined up like little solders waiting for their arms.

See how using fabric creates built in clothes.

All the overalls pressed and they are dressed, ready for a good home.

They really are cute don't you think?

Fashion for Girls 'Sweet Pinafore and Blouse'

Fashion for little ones  'Girls and their dresses'

You know how I love detail well this little outfit has it all, piping( I love), top stitching, frills, spotted buttons, floral's, stripes, soft cotton and of course its blue.

You would think with all this going on it would be overdone, it isn't because not one detail is more dominant than the others.  You can see I have also used three different fabrics in the pinafore but they are soft and once again of equal depth of colour.

The little white blouse does its job of keeping it ( quiet ), its a word I often use to describe a feeling.

I have piped the blouse with the blue and white stripe, very fine as is also the cotton fabric I have used to make the blouse.

A little label
on the back adds the detail that is my style.

Its a bit big for Kerah but maybe this summer.
