Lilly Mouse Doll softtoy

Lilly Mouse soft toy doll

Many times I have been asked to create a small mouse pattern and so just like that here is 'Lilly'.

She is small just 10.5'' tall and ever so sweet and just like all my patterns I have tried to keep her as simple as I can but without loosing the charm.

She was made as a special gift for my Great granddaughter who just turned 3, also the little carrycot and linen set went with it.

I made her 3 different skirts...well why not a girls got to have a selection.

As with all my patterns they are available in my ETSY shop.

My friend 'Kat' a new soft toy pattern

My friend 'Kat'

I've spent some of my holiday time bringing this kitty cat doll to life. I always have a head full of ideas as to things I'd like to make and 'Kat' had worked her way to the top of the queue.

I decided to make her the same size as 'Molly' so any purchasers could utilize the same sized clothes to share with both dolls.
If you would like to read my post about 'Molly' just click here.

Often my inspiration comes from the beautiful fabric that is now available as it did with Molly. Spring flowers were a good starting point and don't they look sweet. She has little cuffed bloomers, a lace edged pinafore and bright overalls.

But in amongst all this creativity I still had time to relax and enjoy Australia's beautiful Sunshine Coast. It is a place we go to often and the weather is usually glorious and still very warm having left behind cooling conditions at home, although this time we had buckets of rain at times.

This is the Maroochydore River, it's only a few minutes walk from the apartment and we love to fish off the jetty.

It gets dark early here but just as the sun goes down the light is wonderful, I don't think my pic captures the soft pink sky the way I remember it.

The birds here are one of my favourite things and you hear their song even in the most urban spaces, bright Parrots, white Galahs and the huge Pelicans.

I hope you don't mind that Iv'e shared my holiday as well as my sewing with you. xxx
This is the link to find my 'Kat' and 'Molly' patterns.

Summer time and 'Fergus the Mouse' soft toy

Summer time sewing and 'Fergus the Mouse'

Make something for little boys...I have been asked this several times but with seven granddaughters I am drawn to sweetness and pink!!!
So here is a little simple toy that definitely is boy friendly although he could be made using soft sweet colours too. I have this pattern  in my Etsy shop if you want to check it out.

We have had mostly beautiful weather lately but with just enough rain to keep lawn and garden growing and really I should be outside enjoying it.
We walked on the beach the other day and it's so beautiful and hardly anyone there...well that's the beauty of my home town.
Night time BBQ by the beach and Agapanthus in full bloom, this is summer.

Well that's me for now

'My friend Molly' bunny and her summer wardrobe

'Molly' bunny doll

I have deviated from my usual and made a slightly larger doll but one that is easier to dress because she has clothes.
A summer wardrobe in fact, with a wee flared skirt, bloomers of course, a camisole for those warm days and oh a dear little jacket for out and about.
And although it is such a lot of work producing a pattern I am pleased with her...what do you think?

If you would like to try making molly and her clothes you van find the pattern here.

Monty Monkey soft toy, new pattern.

Monty Monkey pattern

I know you haven't heard from me for a while and really no excuse, lots of grandchildren and I just got out of the habit of posting.
We are summer time here in this part of the world and today is such a hot day 31 degree C or 87 F so I have all the doors and windows open as I sit at my PC.
My latest pattern is a fun little monkey that I'd had in mind for ages, when my son was about four I made him one with Velcro on its hands and feet...the monkey spent most of his time attached to a tree or around my son's neck.

He's rather cute and reasonably easy to make using just small quantities of craft fabric you can find the pattern here.here

The DOLLY SISTERS.. soft toy for Homespun Magazine

The Dolly Sisters

Some great opportunities have come my way this year but to have a pattern published is such an honor.
Almost a year ago I was contacted by Susan the editor of 'Homespun Magazine' to see if I would like to design a Doll for them.... this was so exciting for me.
Much thought was needed to design something reasonably simple but still appealing.

These are the 'Dolly Sisters', sweet simple little dolls with bright button eyes.

I loved designing this doll, putting in sweet features that bring the face alive.

The little headscarf with it's flowered trim, freckles anyone....just French knots, buttons for eyes and simple stitching gives her just the right look.

The little skirt has a inserted border just to add interest, frilled sleeves and a petite collar just finishes her off.

Homespun is a great Australian craft magazine with a pull out section containing all the patterns, it has a global feel with talented crafts people from around the world contributing to it's success.
I do feel privileged to be part of this and I was truly ever so grateful to be asked.

I do believe you can order it online from Zinio.

Strawberry Biscuit Blog Hop

   Strawberry Biscuit Blog Hop

I was truly humbled when Elea Lutz  for Penny Rose Fabrics asked me to be part of this, to tell you the truth I didn't even know what a Blog Hop was and .....they want me?
Research was definitely needed, so now that I know how it all works I'm thrilled to be part of this, so many talented craftswomen.

Welcome to my blog, I'm sure most of you will be new here, so very lovely to meet you.
Well I fell in love with Elea's designs when I ordered some of the 'Milksugarflower' Mint Friends with the wee bunnies and kittens on it, I made 'Karla Kitten' then I made 'Kerah Rabbit'.
NOW we have Strawberry Biscuit and I love this too, for me the child like charm, the little prints and characters so sweet it's just perfect for wee toys....... so I have made for you SWEET ARIA dolly, she's a wee tot, soft and child friendly easily tucked under one arm by her little owner.

I always start the process by laying out my choices and envisioning the end results [ I love this part ] and with this gorgeous fabric I knew we had a winning combination.

The little faces need to be sweet for they are the key to a cute look, I took my time doing these although just using simple stitches, back stitch for the mouth and French knots for the nose and freckles.

The lovely pinafores are edged in cream lace and finished with tiny buttons, I have fussy cut the yokes to get the dear wee kitty, cake and puppy right where I wanted them.

The little blue one is just so cute, blue is my favourite colour and yes we do spell funny down here on the underside of the world.

The little boots are trimmed with satin ribbon the same lovely hot pink that features in the the pinafores.
Don't you just love the little rosettes, very french and I even dyed them with a Tea bag to get them just the perfect colour.

Their bright little faces and jaunty flower trimmed hats will please any girly girl, don't you think?

I always like to add a swing-tag to my toys so I have made a special one just for you 'Sweet Aria' and 'Strawberry Biscuit'

If you think you would like to make 'Sweet Aria' she is one of my original patterns available in my  shop .

My other project is this Bedroom Cushion

The gorgeous 'Gray Briar Rose'  fabric, well I wasn't sure what I was going to make with this. I felt it was too special to be cut up and there was just enough to do this cushion, a quilted top and yes purple piping, it looks so lovely.
I have a modern home, neutral and classic so I keep my style simple, but doesn't it look so lovely in my bedroom. My padded headboard is a soft mauve [ and yes it too was a 'Gee'sProject' ] and the Mohair blanket is a pale grey, the pop of colour is an unexpected but delightful surprise.

Thank you Elea and Penny Rose Fabric for including me in this inspirational Blog Hop, I have been in awe at the quality and variety of everyone's work and have so enjoyed visiting the other Blogs and YAY we still have day 9 and 10 to go, I'm so glad it's not over yet.
